Dermatology

Subheading

Dermatology is the discipline concerned with diagnosing and treating conditions of the skin and ears including pets suffering from skin conditions, such as itchy skin, infections, ear problems or hair loss.

Common conditions we treat include:

  • Itchy skin (allergies, parasitic disease, bacterial & yeast infections)
  • Recurrent ear problems (otitis)
  • Hair loss (alopecia)

Your pet will receive an initial consultation that will last around 60 minutes. During this time, a thorough history will be taken, followed by a careful examination of your pet. To aid in the diagnosis and treatment of the condition, additional tests are usually required. These include in-house skin sampling for parasites and microbial infections, blood tests and allergy testing.

Some conditions may require your pet to be admitted to our hospital for further investigation. This will be discussed with you, along with potential outcomes, costs and risks. Assuming you agree to the treatment, you can usually leave your pet with us for immediate investigation. Dermatology cases are usually sent home on the same day.
