Cutting Edge £5M Vet Centre Opens Its Doors
Wakefield Trinity rugby league stars cut ribbon at Paragon Veterinary Referrals
A new £5 million state-of-the-art veterinary centre has opened its doors in Wakefield, offering high quality referral treatment for pets across the north of England.
Paragon Veterinary Referrals is one of the largest and best-equipped animal centres in the UK and was officially opened by Wakefield Trinity rugby league stars on Monday. (February 5)
The 18,000 sq ft centre, which is based in Wakefield’s Paragon Business Park, boasts a £1 million imaging suite with state-of-the-art MRI and CT scanners, five operating theatres and extensive kennelling facilities and cat wards.
A total of up to 80 staff will be employed at Paragon, including up to 18 referral vets and 32 nurses, while dedicated treatment will include ophthalmology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, cardiology, neurology, medicine and dermatology.
The centre, which is part of Dewsbury-based Calder Vets, which has 12 first opinion practices across Yorkshire, is being led by Managing Director Ian Monteith and Clinical Director Adam Bell.
Adam said: “The opening of Paragon is the culmination of an 18-month project to bring the very best quality referral veterinary centre here to Wakefield.
“We’re delighted to open our doors and the team here at Paragon Veterinary Referrals are totally committed to, and looking forward to, providing excellent care for patients using the latest veterinary techniques.”
With easy access from the M1 and M62, Paragon will be treating animals from Wakefield, Yorkshire and much further across the north of the country, and offers dedicated procedure rooms for cardiology, oncology and ophthalmology.
Paragon is part of the vision of the Linnaeus Group, a buy-and-build company which invests in and supports 80-plus veterinary practices up and down the UK, including Dewsbury-based Calder Vets.
Paragon will add to the Linnaeus Group’s thriving referral practices, which include Willows Veterinary Centre, in Solihull; North Downs Specialist Referrals, in Surrey; London Vet Specialists and the recently-rebranded Southfields Veterinary Specialists, in Essex.
